Another member here said he got his moldings which were faded replaced under factory warranty... Anyone here do the same? Mines are faded, and I'm thinking of doing this myself...

If you want it to get replaced under warranty, you should go through the dealership. They probably won't give you the updated moldings. Alternatively, you can get your moldings painted which seems like the more durable way to do this

I had mine replaced- actually theres a couple of us that did.....there should be a couple of threads on it.

Mine were replaced under warranty. There seems to be varying results, when approaching different dealers, though. Luckily for me, Metro Inf is right down the street, and didn't give me any trouble at all...

Mine were replaced under warranty as well which included the top and bottom pieces for all front and rear windows. Just make sure you do it within the warranty period and if one dealer won't do it ask around at other dealers. Its basically up to the service manager.

Why not use 3M tape? We did this over on the MINI forums. It's known as the "beltline blackout" (MINI's come with chrome trim at the base of the windows). 3M makes varying widths, and it's a super easy/cheap mod to do too. Different colors (flat black, gloss black, silver, red, you name it!) = :glasses:

Here's a link to what we used for the MINI's

Got mine replaced 2 weeks ago at Sewell Infiniti in Dallas. I walked in and said that the moldings shouldn't be fading like that on a car with 24K miles, and the service tech agreed. Plus I received my free interior and exterior car wash :)

Worked out quite well...
