what's up everyone... wanted your opinion / expertise...

below is a pic of some 22 inch forgiato concavo's... normally around 1300 a piece... this person will let them go for 2g's... I'm thinking of giving him 1500 straight up... but as you can see... they are REALLY REALLY hemmed up... i don't really have the knowledge of how much it would cost to repair/refinish something like this... but I'm thinking if i can talk him down, and get these looking new within reason... I'm hoping to walk away with a deal... nothing is final... but i just like the look of these rims... what do you guys think?

yea... i was just on their site and these look real good machined, chromed, satin/chrome... i'm a fan of the spidero's so i'm thinking these will look somewhat similar... rims were last on my list but if i can get these for a good price, and it won't kill me to get them refinished then maybe ... we'll see...

anyone know of a good place in the san fernando valley or los angeles area that can refinish/repair wheels? i'm really considering getting these if the cost of refinish/repair isnt too bad... thinking a chrome or black lip then the rest color matched diamond graph...

I'd say get the whole thing media blasted and powder coated... but if you really want a polished or chrome lip, it's gonna cost you considering the current condition...

Like em....I would investigate what it would take to bring the wheels back to form. That's a huge upgrade if they can be restored. Chrome or powdercoated, they are going to be nice.

biggest problem looks to be that there already plated, then some coating on the plating is peeling? to do wheels like that justice probably needs to be stripped. at that price I'm guessing there 3 piece wheels? pro wheel shop might be 300-350 a wheel? depending on weather you rechrome or strip & just refinish, or ??? could even go higher...

there are a whole bunch of chains all over that redo wheels, wheels america, wheel fix it, more of course, maybe google around for wheel restore, wheel repair, wheel recondition*, etc,,,should be able to find someone relatively local...

if you send them out to be blasted can be an ok option, but no where near as good as chemically dechromed.... blasted & powdercoating may be an option? either way, no matter what, they will def need to be disasembled & then resealed & reassembled, probably best to use a wheel specific place for this project, even $1,500 + ~$1,200 is a decent deal for 4 reconditioned wheels if they really are over 6k worth of wheel new & if there nice & straight, is it just finish or are they chopped up too?...

yea i googled today and emailed at least 10 or more places hoping to get a response within the next week or so... all wheels are in the same condition as the one shown and fortunately no gaps or dents... so depending on the cost to get it to look like this

i may just end up getting rims a lot earlier then i had planned...

ok... got a quote from one spot called fastforwardwheels.com ... anyone familar with them? response below...

Hi there,
We've actually refinished quite a few Forgiato wheels in our time so the sample you're showing is here is actually a brush finish with a painted barrel.
Our charge on a three piece wheel will run you $200 per each and $20 more per each if you'd like to have a color match finish so you'd be looking at $220 each on the finish you're requesting.
When we are done the wheels will look like they did when they were first sold.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance,

anything specific I should ask them?

tomorrow I'm going to take another look at the rims as well... sorry if this sounds real newb but how can i make sure they will fit... reason I ask is because I've been looking on ebay and see some that say they are mercedes specific or bmw etc... so I plan on asking if they know what car these were on previously... how much does that matter?

uh, how much does that matter??? fit kinda matters a great deal

need to confirm bolt pattern, hub bore & offset, then brake clearance... the best wheels in the world won't matter if they don't fit...

$220 sounds like a good price, so are these wheels plated or not? if there not then refinishing is easier & cheaper for sure...

ooops!
I was gonna ask about size, but figured since you were gonna buy them that you had already looked into that

Well if they fit, you should get them. 5x114.3 is what you need. not sure about offset though.

yea... big rookie you're dealing with here fellaz... rims were always last on my list so i never really looked into it... headed out to check them out in a couple hours... so hopefully they are the right size... heard back from fast forward wheels and they quoted chemical strip at 35 per wheel... which still isnt bad... but we'll see... hope these wheels will be the right size...

chemical strip is prolly assuming there painted... dechroming would be much more than $35 each if there plated...

good luck with them dude, hope they fit

just got back... dude won't be back until wednesday... hopefully it works out to where i can swoop up on a good deal... if not i can wait...
