Help for Service Engine soon light

Dear all I have bought an used fx few months ago, than I have changed engine oil, filters ecc, I have done a complete service, I think in advance. So now on my dash is swiched on the alert light " engine service soon". I woul like to know what I have to do for swich off this light. Is possible to do it by myself ? Thanks Cristiano:wub:

You can connect an OBD-II reader to read the code that came up and erase it if needed. There is a sequence to read the code without the reader but I've never tried it, disconnecting the battery will generally rest it as well but it would be best to know the code that came up.

So anyway I have to go to a service point for the ODB.... But I think that they need an Infiniti ODB, and the problem is that in Italy we don't have an Infiniti service point!!!!

Is not possible to do it by myself ? I think that I have done the service in advance form the program of the car. Anyway I don't know what the car can have because run very good!!!!

Thanks rookie, I have a friend that have ODB but I don't know if he has in his list us car.. But may be nissan sz that we have in europe tes. Tomorrow I'll go there to check it , I hope that the problem is the service in advance!!!!!

Be sure to double check the codes.
Anything above P1000 will be Manufacturer specific and may not match the ones listed here.
Check specific manufacturer pages on the site, as some of them,
we list the OBD2 codes on those pages for those specific vehicles.

The owners manual states that unless the service engine light is blinking, it is likely related to the fuel system such as a loose fuel cap (HORRIBLE design to use the SES light, IMO) or an exhaust issue. If the light is solid, you can reset it using the pedal method and if it returns, have a mechanic look at it.

the pedal method ECU reset is the same as disconnecting the battery.

But if you want to try:

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second?s needle will be useful.

Operations Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to ?OFF? position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

Good stuff because my CEL just came on. Im probably gonna take it to the dealer. I will keep your steps in mind incase i gain the courage to try to turn it off myself.

Alan

We were messing around and cleaned up my throttle body, changed out the filter, and that air flow area. Anyway afterwards my Service Engine Soon light comes on, but it feels like I got a power boost after this effort. I don't think anything is wrong, so if I go in and disconnect the battery, resets ECU, light goes out, and everything is good? That whole timing thing....lol.

Disconnecting the battery is doing the ECu reset. Once you do this and assuming you didnt move the throttle body, everything should be good. If you get the CE light again, then more investigating is needed.
You should attempt the throttle reset procedure just to be safe.

The" check engine light" and "service engine light" are 2 diff type of meaning correct? Because my ses just popped on (steady light,no blinking) and was idling lil weird for few wks before the ses light came on.

OK resurrecting this thread....
I changed my plugs, pcv valve and cleaned the throttle body now I have the "Service Engine Soon" lit up.
I tried all the pedal dances I found here....
https://www.infinitiscene.com/searc...celerator-Throttle-Idle-Learning-Airbag-Reset

to no avail so I tried disconnecting the negative battery connection for 30 Minutes still have "Service Engine Soon" lit up.
During the pedal dance the CEL never started blinking as described in procedure.
Ill try a scan tomorrow and see if I can pull any codes. But shouldn't I have been able to reset it doing everything I tried?
