I used Dupli-color blk lacquer, and Rust-oleum crystal clear. prior to this grill redo I had used krylon's blk paint which is actually off in color, and looked more like a dark charcoal then blk and krylon's clear. it looked ok over all but I'm really please with the color match now.
I prepped this time using 250, 400 / wet sanded 8, and 1k grit paper to make it smooth. I used 2 coats of dupli-color blk enamel first as the base, because it dries very hard and resists chipping much better. Let it fully dry. if you don't and you spray any other paint on top. in my case the lacquer it will crack the base coat. So I had to repeat the sanding process. ( So note: enamels and lacquers don't mix unless fully dry).
My final step was using 2 coats of Dupli-color blk lacquer and 3/4 coats of Rust-oleum crystal clear which IMO is the best spray can clear out there. It really shines much better then krylon, and slightly better then the dupli-color clear acrylic lacquer which I used under my hood on the STB brackets.
(Another Note: if you get any over spray on any other part of the grill don't worry to much. because if you sprayed your second coat when the first is dry, you be able to remove the over spray later with windex and a clay bar). After the paint has harden you can then buff it to give it a smother feel.
Over all I'm pleased, there are some small imperfections but overall it came out good.
