Extended Warranty

Hi All.
My 05 FX35 RWD is about to reach 40K miles. I was wondering if extended warranty is recommended by you experts. And if yes, from where and for what price. I spoke with the Infiniti dealer here in FL, he quoted $2500 for 6 years or 100K Miles.

I have noticed, every time i visit Infiniti dealer with a issue, the final bill comes to around $1500. That’s a lot. It was OK when the warranty used to cover it, but if it goes off my pocket, wow.

So, what options you guys suggest?

Also the guy at Infiniti told me the extended warranty from them is really an extension of the factory warranty. He said it covers all that factory warranty covers. How true is this statement?

I have heard while considering extended warranty one should be very careful about what coverage’s are included. Any details on this are highly appreciated.

I personally never got it and I am at 75k right now. The only thing the FX really needs is regular maintenance.

Thanks for the reply, but the links you added, doesn't really have any information. Also the reason i thought about extended warranty is:
-- All door locks stopped responding one year back. Replacement $500 a piece.
-- Bubbles on the dashboard. $1250

I am just wondering if these types of things happen again, i should be covered.

Any suggestions ?
 
Heres some of the info I got a few weeks ago.......my understanding is that its a tad cheaper the further away you are from 60K. These quotes are when I was at 594XX miles

IMO...

If you have had to bring in your car for just warranty work then I would look into getting it. Not everyone has the same problems with their cars, but overtime even with regular maintenance you might still have a few problems. I have seen on this forum as well as the other forum that people start to have problems with what seem minor, until you get a quote from the dealer.

It's a chance you are willing to take. Damned if you do damned if you don't.
 
If you are committed to keeping the FX for a number of more years or driving it into the ground then I would certainly consider one.
 
I bought one on my Audi...Best investment I ever made, I think I paid something around 2k for it, and had over 7k worth of work done all covered under warranty...Now anytime anything goes bad on the Audi its at least a grand to get it fixed so it turned out to be the right thing to do...I am considering one on the FX, however I am going to wait it out and see what happens between now and 55k miles...if a ton of warranty items come up, then I will probably do it...if not I will use that money to mod it!
