Chrome roof rails

Not sure about others, but I like my trim to match - everywhere. Since I have all chrome trim EXCEPT for the brushed aluminum roof rack, I was wondering if anybody had looked into chroming them. How easy are they to remove and how much should I expect to pay for such a process? Would the rack need to be sand blasted first?

I have the matching upper and lower grills as well, but there is a black powder coat between each grill bar. I'd prefer the whole thing was chromed - I think it would be brighter. Are either the grill or the roof rack items that can be chromed?

i was thinking of doing this awhile back for the same reason. once i started reading up on how to remove the roof rails, i just scrapped the idea lol.

i never priced anything out either, but, it shouldn't be super expensive.

for the grille, the parts that are blacked out are bracing & support stuff that shouldn't be visable, blacking them out kinda makes them disapear, if they were all chrome it might not look as good as it does, espercialy the clip mounting pads & the hood lock shield part...

the rack is aluminum, the end caps are plastic... it can be chromed but I wouldn't think it's going to be cheap, I'd expect to budget like 300 to a project like that give or take...

On the grill's vertical cross supports, I agree - they should stay black. But I'm talking about the horizontal cross members that are chromed front facing, powder black on top and bottom. Because the chrome is so thin (1/4" wide bars), it doesn't really shine on the road. If the entire cross member were chrome, I would think it would brighten up the overall look. But the shop would have to mask the vertical members - or worse, chrome the whole thing and then mask it and paint the vertical supports black.

Where did you read up on this? - I'd still like to refinish the rails and need to remove them.

I want to chrome my rails too. I want the wheels, grille, rials, and door handles matching. I think it would look great on my black FX
