MAINT Rear hatch lock & motor failure

couldn't post in a related thread so here goes...

dealing with the failed rear hatch lock/motor. stupid prob is it failed in the open position so i had to tie my rear hatch down. i'm awaiting part quotes on the lock assembly and motor. from the diagrams, looks like i may be able to do myself. but i'm gonna check fuses first but don't think that's it.

fwiw - i had both passenger side door locks fail on me in the past. they could only be locked and opened manually from the inside. i recall paying upwards like 700 bux to fix both freakin doors.

    Hi:

I have almost the same problem, the front passenger and rear driver's lock are lazy, and sometimes don't want to lock. I'm learning in the DIY, some guys has bought some universal 12 v. actuators on ebay.
It seems not very easy to do, but the dealer price is >200 € each lock actuator, so I'll try to do to my FX.

My back hatch was locking intermittantly I sprayed some lubricant in lock mechanism and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Mine acts up every now and the then. I pull the fuse, I believe its label as "back door" in the drive foot well area, and plug the fuse back in and it works again until the next time.
